Advanced Technical SEO: Page Speed - Site Migrations and Crawling

Is 301 redirecting recommend - image URLs when changing domains? Excellent question! Yes, redirecting your images can definitely help preserve ranking signals for image search, and we’ve seen similar declines in image rankings/traffic for sites that fail to redirect images. If you think about it, images build up the same types of ranking signals over time as regular web pages. Failing to redirect images would essentially be seen by bots as releasing a set of entirely new images; just like web pages, it will take some time for those new resources to build up the ranking signals needed to be competitive in image search. That said, traffic to images usually only makes up a tiny percentage of overall organic traffic; analyzing those numbers can help you prioritize image redirects in your overall migration plan.

Google launches new search engine to help scientists find the datasets they need

Dataset Search could be a scientist’s best friend Google’s goal has always been to organize the world’s information, and its first target was the commercial web. Now, it wants to do the same for the scientific community with a new search engine for datasets. The service, called Dataset Search, launches today, and will be a companion of sorts to Google Scholar, the company’s popular search engine for academic studies and reports. Institutions that publish their data online, like universities and governments, will need to include metadata tags in their webpages that describe their data, including who created it, when it was published, how it was collected, and so on. This information will then be indexed by Dataset Search and combined with input from Google’s Knowledge Graph. (That’s the name for those boxes that pop up for common searches. So if dataset X was published by CERN, some info about the institute will also be included in the results.)

How Voice Search Will Forever Change SEO

There has been an ongoing debate around the world about if voice search is going to be the end of SEO. We are at it again trying to find out if the rumors are true. If you ever talked about having a casual chat with a computer some years back, it would seem like science fiction; nobody would take you seriously because no one ever thought that virtual assistants could have a monetary impact on the market. Many people, thus, ignored the idea of virtual assistants and artificial intelligence. Things have however changed, and a lot is happening in the industry. According to Be shad Behead in his speech at Google Zurich, more than 55 percent of teenagers and 41 percent of adults are now using voice search on a daily basis, and still, the number is swelling. This is a clear indication of what to expect in the next few years. The fact that the service is faster, hands-free and that it allows you to multi-task, is a clear indication that voice search is changing SEO forever. So what is so u...

4 Ways To Stay Ahead in SEO - How Search Is Changing the world of SEO

1. Creating stellar, top-tier content is the most important thing. Ever. Content is the most important thing ever. The importance of content isn’t new. However, the reason this tops the list is because I believe content is more important than ever before. It’s called content marketing, and now, in 2014 with all the SEO changes we’ve seen, it’s the one thing that you can really rely on. It’s legit. Wikipedia’s definition of content marketing is as good as any: “Any marketing format that involves the creation and sharing of media and publishing content in order to acquire customers.” You’ve read the hackneyed phrase, “content is king,” enough times, so I hesitate to even type the worn-out words. Yet, it does bear repeating, because that’s all that really matters. Content is absolutely all-important. Lest you think I’m merely riding a hobby horse, let me try to prove this to you. According to research from InboundWriter.com, companies who have an active blog report 63% more leads t...

GOOGLE MAKES IMPORTANT UPDATE TO THEIR SEARCH ENGINE RESULTS PAGE (SERP) March 7, 2016

Google is constantly making updates to their search algorithms, which is the criteria used in gathering and prioritizing search results for given keyword phrases. It is up to us Digital Marketers to stay on top of these changes to help our clients stay on the first page, and wherever possible first on the list. Well now Google has made a few major changes to their SERP (Search Engine Results Page), which has advantages and disadvantages for website owners and Google AdWords advertisers. Here's what the changes are and what they could mean for you: 1. Removal of AdWords from SERPs side panel Google's SERPs had a set general structure, which looked like this: One of the biggest changes that Google has made to the SERPs is to remove the entire right panel of ads from the page: This will bring the user experience from desktop users closer to that of mobile users, which is the majority of current internet traffic anyway. Google is testing the performance of Produ...

Which is Better – an App or a Mobile Website?

When it comes to deciding whether to build a native app or a mobile website, the most appropriate choice really depends on your end goals. If you are developing an interactive game an app is probably going to be your best option. But if your goal is to offer mobile-friendly content to the widest possible audience then a mobile website is probably the way to go. In some cases you may decide you need both a mobile website and a mobile app, but it’s pretty safe to say that it rarely makes sense to build an app without already having a mobile website in place. Generally speaking, a mobile website should be considered your first step in developing a mobile web presence, whereas an app is useful for developing an application for a very specific purpose that cannot be effectively accomplished via a web browser.

When Does an App Make Sense?

Despite the many inherent benefits of the mobile web, apps are still very popular, and there are a number of specific use scenarios where an app will be your best choice. Generally speaking, if you need one of the following, an app makes sense: Interactivity/Gaming – for interactive games (think Angry Birds) an app is almost always going to be your best choice, at least for the foreseeable future. Regular Usage/Personalization – If your target users are going to be using your app in a personalized fashion on a regular basis (think EverNote) then an app provides a great way to do that. Complex Calculations or Reporting – If you need something that will take data and allow you to manipulate it with complex calculations, charts or reports (think banking or investment) an app will help you do that very effectively. Native Functionality or Processing Required - mobile web browsers are getting increasingly good at accessing certain mobile-specific functions such as clic...

Benefits-Of-SEO - Advantage and Disadvantage

Benefits-Of-SEO 1. The Results are Low Cost (In Comparison to Adwords and PPC) Organic listings are essentially free. Email is dead

MUMBAI: Email is dead, Facebook founder Mark Zuckerberg declared famously last November. Now, Thierry Breton, chief executive officer of Atos, one of Europe's largest IT companies, wants to show the world how a 6-billion company can be run without internal emails. Breton recently vowed that after 2014 none of Atos' 80,000 employees will ever send an email to another. We use email for instant communication, which is a bad way to use emails," he told ET during a recent visit to India. "We use email for archiving data, which is a bad way to do it. We use email to send global information to everyone - this is also a bad way to communicate; we use email to manage processes, which is a bad way to do it. We have many bad usages of email." Breton plans to replace email with social networking tools, which he believes will be more efficient. Atos is now a year into what it calls the 'Zero-email programme'. There is so much enthusiasm for new communication tool...

Top Challenge of Digital Marketing in India

Educating the client: Do you prefer to have a good client? Take some time and effort to educate them on digital marketing. Having a huge budget earmarked for digital media or just having a Facebook page is not going to help anyways. Its easy to entice and convince client with digital parlance, but on longterm you will have a disappointed and grumpy client. No agency would prefer that. Extra effort to train client will pay you on longterm. We contemplate this fact and have various training modules of Digital marketing Expert. Engagement is the fundamental: “Half the money I spend on advertising is wasted; the trouble is I don’t know which half” as quipped by John Wanamaker long time ago doesn’t hold in digital marketing as such. We spend, measure and improvise here with the watchword ROI. Here is the trouble in disguise- let go off the engagement factor. When I mean engagement, it’s not about the impressions, reach or SOV, but it’s more of intangible and broadly AIDA (Attention In...
